Les journaux intimes bruts de Graubard sur l'Europe de l'Est de 1993 à 1995 constituent un témoignage sans complaisance sur les turbulences et les changements qui se sont produits dans les Balkans.

Loose Joints est fier de présenter Road to Nowhere, la première publication d'une voix sous-représentée dans le domaine de la narration photographique. Ayant grandi au sein de la contre-culture et des scènes punk new-yorkaises des années 60 et 70, l'approche intime et saisissante de la photographie par Graubard a trouvé sa propre voix lorsqu'elle a fait ses bagages et s'est installée en Europe de l'Est au début des années 90, témoin de la guerre de Yougoslavie, du génocide bosniaque et du soulèvement kosovar.

Travaillant en solo, Graubard a suivi les histoires au gré de son cœur, découvrant la souffrance et la difficulté des orphelinats, des institutions, de la guerre et de la faim, ainsi que la joie des sous-cultures émergentes et de l'identité post-soviétique parmi les jeunes populations de Russie, de Tchécoslovaquie, de Bulgarie, de Serbie, de Bosnie et d'autres pays. Avec de nombreuses images restées presque totalement inédites pendant près de trente ans, Road to Nowhere sera la première publication majeure de l'œuvre de Graubard.
