u fil des années, Chloé Jafé développe une écriture à la fois plasticienne et documentaire, viscéralement personnelle. De ses 7 ans d’immersion au Japon (2013-2019), Chloé Jafé rapporte des images au noir et blanc d’acier, moites et rudes, tendres et féroces, qui révèlent une vision inédite d’un pays opaque.

Sa trilogie, composée des chapitres “I give you my life”, “Okinawa mon amour” et “How I met Jiro”, met en lumière les pans méconnus et subversifs d’un archipel où la pudeur est de rigueur.

Lorsqu’elle part en 2013, Chloé Jafé a pour projet de réaliser une œuvre multimédia sur les femmes dans la mafia japonaise. Ce n’est qu’après avoir appris le japonais, et s’être immergée complètement dans la culture japonaise, et plus particulièrement celle des “Yakuzas” qu’elle peut mener à bien ce projet, 6 ans après. Pendant cette période de latence, elle découvre l’île d’Okinawa. Son errance sentimentale prend la forme d’un journal intime, qui devient 4 ans plus tard “Okinawa mon amour”, le deuxième tome de sa trilogie au Japon. Puis, en 2018, elle se trouve confrontée, à Osaka, dans le quartier de Nishinari, à un autre Japon. C’est alors qu’elle projette le troisième volet de cette trilogie.
