Okinawa mon amour est une histoire photographique sur la culture Ryukyu raconté par l'artiste française Chloé Jafé. La photographe plonge dans les facettes alternatives de l'île, brisant les stéréotypes d'Okinawa en tant que station balnéaire. L'édition est élégamment enveloppée dans une pochette en velours noir.
«Pendant trois ans, je me suis immergé dans l'esprit de l'île, mes images résultantes reflétant mon introspection, mes désirs et mes angoisses. Des notes anonymes tirées des livres d'or des love hotels sont devenues le fil d'une histoire d'amour pour laquelle je ne trouvais pas de mots. Empruntés à des inconnus, ces sentiments faisaient écho à mes expériences et à mes sentiments: Amour… Luxure… Ivresse… Tromperie…
J'ai trouvé les négatifs des années 70 dans une maison abandonnée. Ils me rappellent l'empreinte du passé, que je pouvais ressentir fortement, et la présence permanente de l'armée américaine sur ses nombreuses bases, soixante-quinze ans après la guerre…. - Chloé Jafé
