Asada Masashi a reçu le prestigieux prix de photographie Kimura Ihei en 2008 pour ce livre.

Tourné sur une période de sept ans, Asadake est organisé en deux moitiés ; une partie se lit de gauche à droite, comme c'est le cas dans les livres occidentaux, tandis que l'autre moitié se lit de droite à gauche, typique des livres japonais. Dans la moitié "occidentale", la famille est prise dans un jeu de rôle et dans la moitié "orientale", la photographie est plus autoréférentielle.

Au centre du livre, se trouve une courte section de textes imprimés sur du papier jaune. C'est là que le photographe s'adresse au lecteur, décrivant son travail comme "une approche légèrement différente de la photographie commémorative". Chaque scène est un jeu de rôle planifié, impliquant chaque membre de la famille. L'acte photographique devient ici un prétexte pour se réunir.

De bout en bout, l'ouvrage est chaleureux et attachant, comme le serait tout album de famille. On y retrouve un questionnaire de vingt-deux questions/réponses des quatre protagoniste avec les salutations avec lesquelles ils s'adressent les uns aux autres : père, mère, frère aîné et frère cadet.
