Le mouvement, toujours ; le désordre, parfois ; les gestes, insouciants et instinctifs : Fusako Kodama capture les élans en avant. Ses photographies prises sur le vif, convoquent des perspectives étonnantes où les sujets apparaissent en léger décalage.

Entre agitation et légèreté, Fusako Kodama rend compte d’une certaine effervescence du Japon dans sa modernité. Dans 1960-80, elle surprend l’atmosphère des lieux, à la fois villes et villages. À travers ses cadres inhabituels et spontanés, la photographe au travail prolifique pose un regard à la fois doux et vivant sur vingt ans de Japon.

1960-1980 est le premier livre de Fusako Kodama publié en Occident, où elle est encore très peu connue.

L'artiste

Fusako Kodama

Fusako Kodama (née en 1945 au Japon) a étudié la photographie avec Seiiji Otsuji et Yasuhiro Ishimoto à l'école de design Kuwasawa de Tokyo. Ses œuvres illustrent la quintessence du modernisme de Kusawasa Design, qui intègre l'enseignement du Bauhaus.
