Inspiré du titre d’un poème de l’écrivain finlandais Aaro Hellaakoski, Me Kaksi (qui se traduit par « nous deux » en français) célèbre la rencontre fortuite, l’étrange proximité, la présence au monde de deux êtres. Regard sur plus de quarante ans de pérégrinations à travers le monde, les photographies de cet ouvrage, mêlant une sélection d’iconiques et certaines inédites, restituent ces instants fugaces saisis à la dérobée par Pentti Sammallahti. L’idée du duo, du couple, de complices en tout genre apparaît de manière récurrente dans l’œuvre du photographe. Qu’il s’agisse d’amoureux, d’amis, d’enfants, de passants, de voyageurs, de voisins mais aussi d’un homme et son chien, de deux oiseaux… ces images racontent l’attachement, la tendresse, l’universalité du lien affectif, « l’être-au-monde » ensemble.
