Connu pour ses fascinants dessins à l'encre et à l'aquarelle, cet artiste né au Manitoba, basé à New York, a entretenu un dialogue esthétique avec une palette d'influences telles que le dadaïsme ou le Bauhaus. Pour la réalisation du Travel Book au Maroc, Dzama se met consciemment en position de découvreur, s'intéressant vivement à tout ce qui l'entoure. Le carnet de croquis de Dzama était son compagnon constant pendant son voyage, explorant à la fois la vie quotidienne du peuple marocain, avec ses coutumes et traditions, mais aussi la variété impressionnante de paysages, des bords de mer aux déserts et chaînes de montagnes. Il cherchait à capturer les mouvements des personnages en action au moment où il s'abandonnait à la puissance et à l'immensité du vide, entièrement enchanté par les effets de lumière et de couleurs.
