République est une série photographique commencée en 2023, qui explore la présence du corps dans l’espace, la lumière et la relation de l’individu à son environnement. Elle s’inscrit en miroir du projet Except the Clouds (2016), consacré aux révoltes athéniennes et à la place de l’humain dans l’Histoire.
L’artiste concentre son regard sur la Place de la République à Paris, réceptacle des passions politiques et symbole de rassemblement, de démocratie et de liberté. Ses photographies se focalisent sur la jeunesse, captant les corps et les gestes d’une génération marquée par l’inquiétude de l’avenir et les turbulences de l’Histoire. Elles saisissent l’esprit d’une ville oscillant entre mouvements de révolte et moments de paix, révélant ce qui unit les êtres humains : émotions, luttes et désirs d’équilibre.
En dressant ce portrait sensible et fragmenté de la place, Fromont explore la résistance sous toutes ses formes — individuelle, collective, politique ou existentielle — et montre comment ces jeunes se tiennent dans le monde, interagissent avec leur environnement et cherchent à exister malgré l’instabilité qui les entoure.
