Ce bel album est une réponse littéraire du grand écrivain marocain Tahar Ben Jelloun aux polaroids doux et sensibles du photographe français Thomas Dhellemmes ; photos en couleurs.

« La rencontre se fait un jour d’été, à Tanger. Et puis des années passent. Mais il y a ce bleu qui ressemble à un silence. Habité. Plein. Tahar Ben Jelloun se cogne aux images de Thomas Dhellemmes, à ses jours bleus, mélancoliques et incertains. Il commence à écrire, sans projet, des poèmes. Juste écrire, sous des ciels, des mers, une croix. Il ne sait rien des lieux, des dates, des pays traversés par Thomas qui arrache au passé une extrême douceur.

Ce que l’on perçoit : des empreintes, des villes au loin, des eaux calmes, une famille, un enfant qui dort, une femme nue, la nature et des fenêtres voilées. C’est une affaire de temps et de mémoire. 1984-2017. Thomas Dhellemmes voyage et sauve du néant une impression du monde. Flottante. Fragile. Sentimentale. Ses polaroïds sont des guérisons. Ils apaisent, soulagent. De la violence, de la mort.

Ce que l’on ressent : la paix, du moins une accalmie.

‍Tahar Ben Jelloun ajoute à ces rêves son chant sublime. D’abord avec les mots qui entraînent les images comme des vagues, ailleurs, dans les profondeurs ou les cimes. Une silhouette sous une pluie dure et les fantômes s’enroulent dans des draps de fortune et arpentent la nuit pour faire croire qu’ils existent. Il écrit : les matins d’été ont les yeux plein de sommeil. La musique de Tahar Ben Jelloun raconte des histoires ouvertes, oniriques, des histoires de vent, d’amours et d’ancêtres, des contes en quelques lignes, ou ses pensées.
