Paupières ouvertes ou fermées, ces visages que nous contemplons, nous regardent autant que nous les regardons. Alexandra Catière les a croisés dans des fêtes de village, dans des studios improvisés en Bretagne, loin des visages des acteurs de Griffith ou des gros plans expressionnistes du cinéma muet d’avant-garde d’Eisenstein. Les rides, les plis, les aspérités, le brillant de nos yeux sont autant de détails qui constituent simultanément l’interface de nos relations sociales et les strates de notre identité. Beauté et mélancolie se côtoient. Se succèdent des visages humbles et dignes dans un silence que seul, le fracas d’un rire pourrait briser.
