Que retenir d’une visite de trois ans dans le labyrinthe des couloirs de l’Opéra Garnier ? Comment poser un regard sur un bâtiment célèbre mille fois capturé ? Le photographe Vincent Desailly pousse les portes dérobées et se glisse dans les coulisses du Palais, dont il transfigure les détails les plus ordinaires et ravive la dimension mythologique. Entre passé et présent, matérialité et abstraction, il saisit l’Opéra tel un organisme vivant et jette un regard naturaliste et romantique sur l’institution. Photographier un ballet, c’est aussi se confronter au paradoxe insoluble de la capture du mouvement : dans De Marbre, les secondes s’étendent jusqu’à la distorsion des corps.

Pour accompagner cette exploration visuelle à contrepied, la romancière Salomé Kiner plante le décor à l’extérieur du Palais : sa nouvelle originale commence dans un salon de nail art et s’achève par une rencontre, celle de la narratrice avec un peintre dont elle a oublié le nom : « un mélange de schlag, de chagasse et de racaille. Schagaille ? ».
