Nous connaissons les influences africaines au Brésil et dans les Caraïbes, mais que savons-nous de la présence de populations noires dans la partie andine du continent sud-américain ?
Africa-America est une itinérance construite autour de portraits photographiques qui interrogent les traces contemporaines de l’africanité chez les diasporas noires des Andes. En effet, à partir du xvie siècle, l’économie de plantation en Amérique espagnole s’est développée sur les côtes atlantique et pacifique avec l’importation massive d’esclaves venus des côtes africaines. Aujourd’hui, ces populations noires, « afrodescendantes » vivent un tournant historique exprimant publiquement leurs cultures plurielles, syncrétisme original entre influences indigènes, colonisation espagnole et racines africaines avec la volonté affirmée de trouver leur place dans des états où elles restent largement minoritaires. à des degrés divers, elles sont toutes à la recherche de leurs racines africaines qu’elles connaissent peu ou pas.
