Ethnologue de formation, Catherine Corvec s'intéresse depuis toujours à la mythologie et a comme souhait d'observer des sociétés traditionelles européennes. Au début des années 1990, elle décide donc partir en Roumanie, au lendemain de la dictature de Ceaușescu.

Elle se rend plus précisemment en Transylvanie, où elle passe plusieurs mois. Sur place, elle rencontre les habitants des campagnes, là où "les paysans vivaient en autarcie et circulaient à cheval". Elle capture leur quotidien, influencé par de nombreux mythes et traditions ancestrales.

Ses photographies, toutes prises à l'argentique et en noir et blanc, évoquent une certaine mélancolie. Catherine Corvec dit avoir voulu "évoquer l'absence", faisant écho à la persécution et la disparition de nombreuses familles juives qui vivaient dans ces villages avant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

"DOR" est le premier livre photo de Catherine Corvec, il a été auto-édité à 300 exemplaires (signés et numérotés).
