Ce Leporello (ou livre accordéon) est le catalogue de l'exposition Harmonics of the Night qui a eu lieu en 2021 à la Leica Gallery Mayfair de Londres. On y retrouve quelques unes des photos iconiques d'Andy Summers, guitariste du groupe mythique The Police et passionné de photographie. Le livre a été édité en 400 exemplaires, numérotés et signés par l'artiste.
Né en 1942 à Blackpool, au nord-est de Manchester, Andy Summers a fait partie du groupe de rock The Police avec Sting et Stewart Copeland. Mais la photographie tient une place dans sa vie depuis toujours. « Enfant, il y avait à la maison deux grosses valises bourrées de photos qui me fascinaient, se rappelle-t-il. Des petites, en noir et blanc, avec leurs bordures découpées, des portraits de gens disparus... » Adolescent, il gagne son argent de poche en tant que photographe de plage. Mais cela n’a pas duré. « Je ne voulais qu’une chose : être un musicien. Je ne pensais qu’à ça. C’était une obsession. »
C’est à l’occasion d’une tournée de The Police, en 1979, qu’il reprend ses appareils. Sans formation, l’autodidacte apprend en regardant des milliers d’images : celles d’Henri Cartier-Bresson, de Robert Frank, de Gary Winogrand...
