Après le tremblement de terre et l'accident nucléaire qui frappent le Japon en 2011, alors qu'il vient de guérir d'un cancer, Sayo Senoo ne peut s'empêcher de faire le lien entre sa maladie et la radioactivité.
Frappé par les photos de débris nucléaires publiées sur le site du gouvernement japonais peu après la catastrophe de Fukushima, il décide de les télécharger puis de les transformer en utilisant plusieurs processus d'imprimantes à jet d'encre.
Son livre auto-édité "Land that shed tears" regroupe onze de ces images, imprimées sur différents types de papiers Awagami.
