The Echo of Our Voices is the fourth chapter of The Day May Break, a global series featuring first humans and animals, and now just humans, impacted by climate change and environmental degradation and destruction.

The photographs feature rural families, who fled the war in Syria, now living in one of the most water-scarce countries in the world, Jordan. Living lives of continuous displacement due to climate change, the families are forced to move their homes up to several times a year, moving to where there is agricultural work as a result of sufficient rainfall.

The stacks of boxes that the families sit and stand together on aim skyward - a verticality implying a strength or defiance - and provide pedestals for those that in our society are typically unseen and unheard.

The Echo of Our Voices est le quatrième chapitre de The Day May Break, une série mondiale mettant en scène d'abord des humains et des animaux, puis uniquement des humains, touchés par le changement climatique, la dégradation et la destruction de l'environnement.

Les photographies montrent des familles rurales qui ont fui la guerre en Syrie et vivent désormais en Jordanie, l'un des pays les plus touchés par la pénurie d'eau au monde. Conduites à se déplacer continuellement en raison du changement climatique, ces familles sont contraintes de déménager plusieurs fois par an, à la recherche de terres agricoles où les précipitations sont suffisantes.

Les piles de cartons sur lesquelles les familles s'assoient et se tiennent debout s'élèvent vers le ciel, leur verticalité suggérant une force ou une défiance, et offrent un piédestal à ceux qui, dans notre société, sont généralement invisibles et inaudibles.
