Dans cette série, Margaret Lansink tente de comprendre pourquoi nous, humains, refusons souvent d’accepter cette notion simple qu’est l’impermanence. Est-ce la lié à notre peur de l’inconnu, la peur de renoncer à notre sécurité et à notre confort ?

Selon Margaret Lansink, accepter cette impermanence permet d’accéder à la Beauté : Beauté des idées, des relations humaines, de nos liens avec la Nature.

Cette immersion dans la Nature lui permet d’entrer dans une temporalité différente, de se synchroniser avec le rythme lent de la nature, de prendre conscience de sa beauté, de ses changements.

Margaret Lansink parle dans ce livre de la « friction » de la synchronisation de l'éternel devenir de l'humanité avec la Nature, elle juxtapose notre temps humain en photographiant des danseurs de ballet professionnels (qui ont dû prendre leur retraite à 35 ans) avec des images de la nature aride de Death Valley et d'autres lieux, où le temps ne semble jouer aucun rôle apparent. Ensemble, ils présentent les frictions que nous, humains, devons surmonter pour pouvoir continuer à vivre sur notre planète.
