Les premières années de Porodina ont été marquées par les bâtiments brutalistes de Moscou et par sa mère, qui l'a initié à l'art. Stocké dans son subconscient, l'art est devenu le prolongement et l'expression de son "moi", ce qui implique que chacune de ses photographies est un autoportrait. L'art est devenu - et reste - une partie inévitable et inséparable d'elle.

L'éducation académique de Porodina dans la Russie post-soviétique et son intérêt pour le comportement émotionnel l'ont amenée à étudier la psychologie clinique. Cette formation et sa quête d'une meilleure compréhension d'elle-même, de son environnement et des autres l'ont amenée à se tourner vers la photographie.

C'est devenu un cadre dans lequel elle n'est pas limitée - la photographie n'est pour elle qu'un autre moyen qui permet de stimuler l'esprit en montrant, plutôt qu'en parlant.
