Yodaka
La fin des années 1970 voit l'achèvement de la construction d'après-guerre au Japon, ainsi que le dépérissement du mouvement étudiant et des divers actes terroristes qui ont secoué la communauté mondiale. Le début des années 1980 est un bref intermède de calme, anticipant la fin du long L'ère Showa, avant que le Japon ne soit submergé par la bulle économique. Je revenais tout juste au Japon en 1980, après quatre années d'études en Flandre, où le temps passait lentement et l'atmosphère était très détendue. Outre la progression rapide de l'occidentalisation, la réalité de ce nouveau Tokyo, où l'ancien Show d'avant-guerre se mêlait à la Showa moderne (d'après-guerre), me paraissait désordonnée et chaotique, et il n'était pas facile de la capturer visuellement. J'ai eu du mal à comprendre mon propre mode d'expression dans mon pays d'origine et j'ai commencé par courir après les lumières de la nuit pour dévier ce chaos.
