Des années 1970 à nos jours, depuis les paysages du grand Ouest américain jusqu’à la gare de La Ciotat ou aux jardins de Giverny, Bernard Plossu propose une vision intime et sensorielle du monde, où l’homme et l’organique se juxtaposent. Cette vision dirigée par la sensation, il la traduit grâce à la technique de tirage Fresson. La texture particulière et le rendu très subtil de ce procédé pigmentaire, inventé au XIXe siècle par la famille du même nom basée à Savigny-sur-Orge, répondent à merveille à la focale sans esbroufe du photographe, soucieux de mettre à distance le spectaculaire et le grandiloquent. La longévité de la collaboration de Plossu avec la famille Fresson sur trois générations est partie prenante de l’oeuvre elle-même.
