"Le duo d’artistes espagnols Albarrán Cabrera entretient une relation particulière avec la nature. Source d’inspiration, sujet photographique ou décor presque irréel, elle est toujours, d’une manière ou d’une autre, présente dans leurs images. Fil conducteur dans leur production, les arbres s’y devinent souvent : l’ombre d’une branche, le dessin d’un feuillage devenu abstrait ou encore une silhouette tortueuse au centre du cadre. Les images alternent entre palette de couleurs vives, à la limite de l'abstraction, et tons plus monochromes, évoquant une certaine mélancolie, nous plongeant dans des paysages intemporels. Le résultat évoque un monde onirique, presque surréaliste, typique du duo espagnol.
Toutefois l’arbre n’est pas le seul sujet de cet ouvrage. Il s’agit pour les photographes d’explorer plus largement la relation de l’homme avec la nature en y associant également la littérature et notamment les écrits du romancier, poète et peintre allemand Hermann Hesse afin de donner forme à leur pensée. Un texte de l’auteur et agronome, Yves Darricau, sur la complicité historique de l’homme aux arbres à travers les âges, aujourd’hui mise en péril, vient compléter ce livre célébrant leur présence dans notre monde."
